Role Summary
Join the Civil Society Enablement Unit as an Accountant and Finance Officer, managing financial operations and documentation in Türkiye.
Key Responsibilities
The Accounting and Finance Officer supports the day-to-day financial operations of assigned field and project activities by maintaining accurate project financial documentation and accounting records, preparing reconciliations, supporting audit and donor review processes, and managing banking and cash handling activities in line with organizational policies and donor requirements.
- Manage day-to-day finance operations and transaction processing for assigned field/project activities.
- Handle banking and cash-related processes in line with approved procedures and segregation of duties.
- Maintain complete supporting documentation for payments, advances, settlements and cash/bank movements.
- Coordinate with Finance and Accounting Lead on accounting entries, reconciliation needs and documentation consistency.
- Support project teams with payment request preparation, budget coding and documentation requirements.
- Prepare regular finance updates and documentation for review by the Finance Manager.
- Maintain organized files for internal control, donor review and audit purposes.
- Maintain complete documentation for Türkiye transactions, including invoices, receipts, payment proofs and approvals.
- Assist in donor financial reviews, audit preparation and documentation retrieval.
- Follow up on missing supporting documents and ensure proper filing of accounting records.
- Prepare and submit required governmental reports to the relevant Turkish authorities.
- Coordinate with the Legal supervisor regarding any legal or regulatory matters related to the Turkish government.
- Provide translation support for documents, reports, and official communications.
Minimum Requirements
- Ensure that all cash, bank, and payment transactions are supported by complete, approved, and properly archived documentation.
- Maintain proper segregation of duties between request, approval, payment processing, recording, and reconciliation.
- Ensure that bookkeeping entries are accurate and consistent with approved supporting documents, budget codes, and coding instructions.
- Prepare timely and accurate cash, bank, and account reconciliations for review by the Finance Manager.
- Immediately escalate any discrepancies, cash variances, missing documents, coding issues, or compliance concerns to the relevant supervisor.
- Coordinate accounting-related matters with the Finance and Accounting Lead, while maintaining direct financial reporting to the Finance Manager.
- Maintain confidentiality, data protection, and proper document retention standards in line with CSEU policies and donor requirements.
Eligibility Criteria
Applicants must have the legal right to work in Türkiye, and proficiency in Turkish and English is expected.
