Verified OpportunityChecked by PathwayAI staff.

Role Summary

OpenFX is seeking a Head of Trade Operations to lead trade and treasury operations in Bengaluru, India, ensuring seamless cross-border payment processes.

About the Organisation

OpenFX is on a mission to move money as freely as data, unrestricted by time zones, banking hours, or legacy systems. We are building the infrastructure that will power the next generation of cross-border payment systems for institutions. The team's execution has been exceptional, and we're scaling at a remarkable pace. Our stellar early team comes with experience in companies like J.P. Morgan, Goldman Sachs, FalconX, PayPal, Affirm, Polygon, Kraken, Nium and others. We're backed by Accel, Lightspeed, NfX and other top-tier investors.

Key Responsibilities

Trade Operations Leadership

Own the end-to-end trade lifecycle: execution, booking, confirmation, reconciliation, and settlement across all currencies and corridors.

Set the global operating model and coverage framework so trades settle accurately and on time across IST, GMT, and US time zones.

Drive down settlement discrepancies and operational breaks through process design, controls, and system improvements.

Treasury & Liquidity Strategy

Own daily liquidity and cash management across multiple currencies, accounts, and banking partners.

Set the strategy for cash forecasting, working capital efficiency, and funding across the network.

Oversee short-term investment and borrowing activity and optimize balances to reduce cost of capital.

Team Leadership & Scaling

Lead, grow, and develop the Trade & Treasury Operations team across multiple geographies.

Build the hiring plan, define roles and coverage, and raise the operational bar as the team scales.

Coach managers and create the documentation and training that let the function scale without you in the loop on every decision.

Cross-Functional Partnership

Serve as the go-to operations partner for Product on new products and features, ensuring operational readiness is part of the plan from day one.

Partner with Partnerships on banking and liquidity relationships, service levels, and fee structures.

Work with Finance on financial planning, reconciliation, controls, and reporting.

Align with Business Operations on process, tooling, and cross-company operating cadence.

Risk, Compliance & Controls

Own the operational risk framework for trade and treasury: market and currency risk monitoring, limits, and mitigation.

Ensure all trade and treasury activity adheres to relevant regulations and internal policy across jurisdictions.

Formalize controls, audit trails, and escalation paths appropriate for a regulated, fast-scaling fintech.

Systems, Automation & Reporting

Own the roadmap for trade and treasury systems, driving automation over manual work wherever possible.

Automate and standardize key trade and treasury reporting for leadership, partners, and regulators.

Ensure data integrity across systems so the business can trust the numbers.

Minimum Requirements

Must-haves

15+ years of experience in trade operations, treasury, or related functions, with significant time at large-scale fintechs and/or major financial institutions.

Proven track record leading and scaling trade and/or treasury operations teams across multiple geographies.

Deep, technical command of the full trade lifecycle, treasury and cash management, FX markets, and cross-border payments.

Demonstrated ability to build operating models, controls, and automation that scale with rapid volume growth.

Strong executive presence and the ability to partner with and influence product, finance, partnerships, and business operations leaders.

Excellent judgment on risk, controls, and compliance in a regulated environment.

Outstanding written communication; effective operating async across time zones in a globally distributed company.

What helps you stand out

An MBA or a professional treasury certification (e.g., CTP).

Direct, hands-on experience with trading and treasury management systems and platforms.

Experience building trade or treasury operations functions from the ground up (0 to 1) at a high-growth company.

Experience across multiple regulatory jurisdictions (US, UK, EU, UAE, India).

Working Conditions

Competitive salary and benefits package.

Equity in a rapidly growing company.

The opportunity to lead a core function at the forefront of fintech innovation.

The opportunity to make a significant impact on global financial infrastructure.

A collaborative work culture with emphasis on personal and professional growth.
