The Learning & Development Department provides and coordinates learning opportunities accessible to diverse MSF contexts. As part of its AI vision, the department is exploring innovative solutions to improve access to training content and support personalized learning pathways for MSF staff.

The AI Learning Solutions Intern will actively contribute to the design, development, configuration, and testing of AI-enabled learning solutions, including Retrieval Augmented Generation (RAG) chatbots, AI-assisted knowledge retrieval systems, and personalized learning recommendation tools based on skills, profiles, and learning needs.

The intern will contribute to the technical implementation and continuous improvement of AI-supported learning services in collaboration with L&D, IT and other business stakeholders.

Key Responsibilities

  • Contribute to the development, configuration, and testing of Retrieval Augmented
  • Generation (RAG) chatbots and AI-assisted knowledge retrieval systems.
  • Support the integration, structuring, and preparation of learning content and metadata for AI indexing, semantic search, and knowledge retrieval workflows.
  • Participate in the design and testing of personalized learning recommendation mechanisms based on user profiles, skills, competencies, and learning pathways.
  • Assist in prompt engineering, AI testing, response evaluation, and troubleshooting activities to improve system relevance, accuracy, and usability.
  • Analyse user needs, learning pathways, and usage patterns to support the development of personalized and AI-assisted learning experiences.
  • Contribute to the definition and implementation of metadata schemas, taxonomy structures, tagging standards, and content governance practices supporting AI solutions.
  • Collaborate with L&D, IT and other stakeholders to prototype, document, test, and improve AI-supported learning and knowledge management solutions.
  • Prepare technical documentation, presentations, reports, and recommendations supporting the evolution of AI-supported learning services.

Minimum Requirements

This internship is part of an academic training program, a professional training program, or a socio-professional integration program, and must comply with the [conditions](https://www.ge.ch/engager-personne-stage/stages-formation-insertion-reconnus) set by the Employment Market Supervisory Council (CSME). The duration of the internship, as defined by the tripartite agreement, is 6 to 12 months at 100%

  • Have a tripartite internship agreement
  • Bachelor’s degree (atteigned or in progress) in Learning Technologies, Information Management, Data Science, Computer Science, Knowledge Management, Educational Technology, or related field.
  • Master’s degree or ongoing specialization in AI, Learning Sciences, Knowledge Management, or Digital Transformation a plus.
  • English and French: excellent writing and communication skills
  • Previous academic or internship experience related to AI tools, learning platforms, data structuring, or knowledge management is an asset but not required.
  • Learning and AI: AI-assisted search, Retrieval augmented generation (RAG), Metadata and content organization
  • Software and tools: Sharepoint, Microsoft 365, Azure AI Studio, MS Copilot Studio
  • Programming: SQL, python, APIs, prompt engineering, Git, LangChain or similar orchestration frameworks
  • Curiosity and willingness to learn, Attention to detail, Analytical thinking, Team and collaboration skills, Accountability, Flexibility, Ethical awareness, Taking initiative
