About the Organisation

DRC Ukraine’s Shelter, WASH and Infrastructure (SWI) response aims to support displacement-affected and conflict-affected populations to access safe, adequate and dignified living conditions, while strengthening the continuity and resilience of the systems and services that sustain them.

As the Shelter and Settlements Technical Coordinator (S&S TC), you will play a critical role in determining the strategic direction of DRC’s shelter programming and ensuring high quality implementation of shelter programme. You will provide overall technical leadership to all aspects of DRC’s shelter programming, including guaranteeing technical support and oversight to DRC’s shelter teams and activities, and producing technical documents and providing trainings when necessary. You will ensure a high-quality shelter response through the development of SOPs, guidelines, and tools, and will support programme teams with capacity building and trainings in cooperation with sector managers. You will support the development of high-quality proposals and concept notes in coordination with the Grants Management teams, Deputy Head of Programme (DHoP), Head of Programme (HoP) and other technical coordinators.

You will be responsible for the technical supervision of the Infrastructure and WASH Specialist, who reports managerially to the Head of Programme (HoP).

To be successful in this role we expect you to have at least 5 years working experience in similar job across diverse, complex crisis contexts. Moreover, we also expect the following:

In this position, you are expected to demonstrate DRC’ five core competencies:

  • Degree in civil engineering or equivalent, or 7+ years of relevant experience
  • Experience of tendering and managing contracted work
  • Management experience in a construction context

  • Excellent analytical skills, commitment to gender equality/equity
  • Demonstrated skills in application of humanitarian tools and standard in past works

  • Fluency in English (written and spoken) is essential
  • Willing to travel regularly to rural/remote project sites
  • Ability to work well in unstable security environments, and under significant administrative and programming pressures.

Working Conditions
