Legal Counsel (Part-Time)

Odin

Verified OpportunityChecked by PathwayAI staff.

Role Summary

Join Odin as a Part-Time Legal Counsel in the UK, offering advisory services for private markets with a focus on innovative solutions.

About the Organisation

Odin is infrastructure for private markets. We think capital is one of the most powerful tools for shaping the world, and that far more people should be able to put it to work. So we're making it radically easier to raise and deploy.

Our first product is a full-stack platform for launching and running private investment firms - think Shopify for VC and PE. We handle all the infrastructure: from legals and investor onboarding to KYC/AML, payments, tax, reporting, and exits.

We’re already trusted by over 10,000 angels, VCs, and founders. We administer over $500m in assets, covering investments from pre-seed to series E. This includes household names like ElevenLabs, OpenAI, SpaceX, xAI, Anduril, etc. but also new companies creating everything from synthetic brains to small nuclear reactors.

Key Responsibilities

  • Advising on live deals: secondaries, post-close issues, consent requirements, and legacy deals with problems in them.
  • Speaking to customers directly, including syndicate leads and investors, and holding a position when the answer is no.
  • Amending and reissuing our own contracts and templates where they're the blocker, without escalating each decision to the founders.
  • Handling regulatory questions across jurisdictions as we launch in the US and add new fund structures.
  • Working with engineers and ops to turn repeated legal decisions into templates, playbooks and automated workflows.
  • Using AI tooling to draft and scale legal work, and owning our internal legal repositories.
  • Escalating to the founders only where the risk genuinely warrants it.

Minimum Requirements

  • At least 4 years PQE, with a strong academic and training background.
  • Commercial or corporate background, with familiarity with M&A.
  • Commercial judgement, and comfort making a call without a second opinion.
  • Confidence in front of customers, including in difficult conversations.
  • In-house experience at a startup or scale-up, ideally fintech.
  • Exposure to SPVs, funds or private markets.
  • Hands-on experience building templates, playbooks or automated workflows with AI tooling.
