Tax Compliance Manager
Role Summary
Join Taptapsend as a Tax Compliance Manager in London, leading global tax compliance in a fast-scaling fintech company.
About the Organisation
We’re building the world’s leading cross-border fintech for emerging markets - empowering families, fueling local economies, and changing how millions access financial services.
Since our launch in 2019, we have transformed how money moves across borders with our operations spanning 6 out of 7 continents and covering both the busiest and most underserved (remittance) corridors. We tapped into a massive shift - from banks to phones - bringing digital finance to places where traditional systems never reached. The next stage of growth will fuel a network of services and products especially designed to make money more accessible to diaspora communities including local cards, and additional savings and payments features.
We’re growing fast, backed by world-class investors, and scaling a product that blends real world impact with cutting edge fintech innovation.
Key Responsibilities
- Own Global Tax Compliance: Manage end-to-end tax filings across all group entities, coordinating with external advisors to ensure accurate, timely returns in every jurisdiction.
- Manage Outsourced Providers: Own the relationship with third-party compliance providers — setting scopes, reviewing deliverables, and holding quality standards across regions.
- Lead Tax Reporting: Support the preparation of tax provisions, deferred tax calculations, and disclosures for statutory accounts and group reporting (IFRS and/or US GAAP).
- Support New Market Launches: Ensure tax compliance requirements are embedded from day one whenever the business enters a new market or launches a new product.
- Contribute to Tax Projects: Work alongside the wider tax team on transfer pricing documentation, group restructurings, and assessments of legislative change.
- Build Better Processes: Develop and improve internal tax controls, reporting, and processes as the function matures and the entity structure grows.
- Stay Ahead of Tax Developments: Monitor changes in key jurisdictions and feed these into the team's wider planning.
- Liaise with Auditors & Tax Authorities: Act as a key point of contact for external auditors, tax authorities, and advisors on compliance queries, audits, and ad-hoc filings.
- Monitor Effective Tax Rates: Prepare and maintain current and deferred tax reconciliations, tracking effective tax rates across the group.
Minimum Requirements
- Qualified CPA, or equivalent professional qualification.
- At least 5 years of relevant tax experience, whether in practice (Big 4 or mid-tier) or a combination of practice and in-house.
- Strong grounding in corporate tax compliance and reporting, with exposure to international or multi-jurisdictional work.
- Comfortable managing external advisors and reviewing outsourced deliverables to a high standard.
- Solid understanding of tax accounting and provisioning under US GAAP and/or IFRS — both is a plus; one is required.
- Experience with transfer pricing compliance or documentation is a plus, but not essential.
- Experience in fintech, payments, or a high-growth startup environment is a plus.
- Ownership mindset — you take responsibility, follow through, and move things forward without heavy oversight.
- Communication — you explain tax matters clearly to non-specialists and know how to land a complex point simply.
- Comfort with ambiguity — you make practical recommendations even when the answer isn't clear-cut.
- Curiosity — you have a genuine interest in how tax supports a fast-growing, international business.
