Role Summary
Join Illinois Mathematics and Science Academy as a Part-time Contingent Nurse, providing essential healthcare to students in a collaborative environment.
Key Responsibilities

- Assess and treat student illnesses and injuries, administer first aid, and manage medical emergencies according to IMSA policies and procedures.
- Assure that day-to-day health office operations adhere to the Illinois Administrative Codes and Public Health Policies related to school health.
- Determine the impact of contagious illnesses and act to prevent the spread of communicable diseases on campus.
- Act as a liaison for students, parents, physicians, and community agencies as it relates to health and education to enhance health and wellness of the student population.
- Identify and manage students’ health concerns so they are ready to learn.
- Dispense prescribed medications and monitor students for adverse reactions.
- Monitor student health screenings including physical exams, immunization records and sports physicals.Assist with preparing written annual reports on services provided.
- Participate as a member in Academy committees and professional association activities as assigned.
- Work and or/attend Academy-sponsored events, including but not limited to Orientation, Move-in, Convocation, Graduation, Community Days, Carnival, equity and excellence initiatives, etc
- Participate in health related Academy activities as a representative of the Health Office.
- Maintain confidentiality regarding all school and health-related issues.
- Other duties as assigned.

- Current Illinois Nurse License
- Associate's degree in Nursing
- CPR/AED certified
- Experience working in schools and with secondary students.
- An appreciation and understanding of working with diverse populations.
- Knowledge of Electronic Medical Records, Microsoft Word, Excel, and Google Suite.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
- Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
- Bachelor’s degree in Nursing
- Bilingual English-Spanish preferred
- Understand the speech of another person and speak clearly so listeners can understand.
- See details of objects from a range of a few inches to a few feet away
- Move two or more limbs together (for example, two arms, two legs, or one leg and one arm) while remaining in place.
- Use fingers and/or hand(s) to grasp, move, or assemble objects.

Working Conditions
This is a contingent, non-exempt, employment-at-will position. Hourly rate is $30/hr, approximately 20 days at 8 hours per day. As a contingent position, this position is not benefits eligible.

Eligibility Criteria
Applicants must have a current Illinois Nurse License and be eligible to work in the United States.
