INTERN IN INTERNATIONAL DEVELOPMENT (80-100% OR AS AGREED)
Role Summary
Join the Swiss Academy for Development as an intern in International Development, focusing on projects in Zimbabwe and Uganda. Gain practical experience while contributing to meaningful work.
Key Responsibilities
Activities and duties will be defined in more detail depending on work requirements and on the background and skills of the candidate. They may include some of the following:
- Provide day-to-day, dedicated support for one or two projects in Zimbabwe and Uganda, respectively, focusing on the topics of entrepreneurship, health, and agroecology.
- Collaborate closely with our local project partner organisation to support the project’s implementation and contribute to fundraising efforts.
- Take on individual tasks related to the management of other projects, monitoring, evaluation and learning, communication, and fundraising.
- Assist in development, review, categorisation, and update of research publications, internal guidelines and policy documents, as agreed with and supervised by either the responsible Project Officer/Manager or the Executive Director.
Minimum Requirements
- Bachelor’s (completed) or Master’s degree (completed or in process of completion) in social sciences, agricultural sciences, education, economics or fields related to development cooperation and to sport and play-based method.
- Enthusiasm and passion for development cooperation.
- Fluent in English (main working language); fluency or advanced level in German and other languages is an advantage.
- Experience in international development and cooperation, in particular in an African context, is an advantage.
- Knowledge of and experience in project management, MEL (Monitoring, Evaluation, Learning), or fundraising is an advantage.
- Work or study experience abroad is an advantage.
- Proficiency in quantitative research methods, strong skills in Excel, and experience with data analysis software such as R, Stata, or SPSS is an advantage.
- A meticulous and detail-oriented approach to work.
- Ability to work proactively and creatively, in a team and independently, as well as in an international environment.

Eligibility Criteria
Candidates with a completed Bachelor's or Master's degree in relevant fields are encouraged to apply. Proficiency in English is required; other languages are advantageous.
