Key Responsibilities
The overall objective of this assignment is to produce a high-quality, compelling documentary film that captures, documents, and communicates the design, implementation, results, and transformative impact of the Child Rights Monitoring and Remediation System (CRMRS) in Masaka and Rwenzori, Uganda.
The documentary will serve as both a storytelling and strategic communication tool, showcasing how CRMRS contributes to strengthening child protection systems within coffee-growing communities and supply chains, while promoting children’s rights
The service provider will be responsible for the end-to-end production of a high-quality documentary on the Child Rights Monitoring and Remediation System (CRMRS) in Masaka and Rwenzori Uganda. This includes concept development, filming, editing, and delivery of the final products.
The documentary should combine clear explanation of the CRMRS system with real-life stories that demonstrate its impact on children and communities.
The service provider will adopt a structured, participatory, ethical, and story-driven documentary production approach that ensures accuracy of content, high production quality, and strong alignment with child safeguarding principles.
The methodology should combine technical documentation of the CRMRS model with human-centered storytelling, ensuring both systems-level understanding and emotional engagement.
This phase will ensure that the documentary has a strong narrative backbone and clear storytelling structure.
The service provider will conduct on-site filming in Masaka, ensuring minimal disruption to communities and full ethical compliance.
This phase will translate raw footage into a coherent, compelling, and audience-appropriate documentary.
The service provider will ensure continuous quality assurance through:
Multiple revision rounds may be required to achieve final approval.
The service provider will deliver the following outputs throughout the assignment:
The Child Rights and Business Global Advisor will serve as the focal point for the service provider(s), providing overall direction, leadership, and oversight throughout the assignment.
The service provider(s) must sign the Terre des hommes Safeguarding Policy, Code of Conduct (*and other relevant policies that will be presented at the contract signature state*) and be willing to adhere to its principles and expected practices. If a breach of the policy or code of conduct takes place, the service will be terminated immediately without any financial burden on Tdh.
Tdh seeks a qualified and experienced service provider (firm, organization, or individual consultant) with strong expertise and experience in documentary production and visual storytelling, particularly within development or social impact contexts.
The service provider should meet the following criteria:
- Submission of a first draft documentary to Tdh
- Incorporation of structured feedback from:
- Tdh technical teams
- Field partners (where relevant)
- Verification of:
- Accuracy of CRMRS representation
- Ethical compliance and safeguarding adherence
- Clarity and effectiveness of messaging
- Maintain regular communication with Tdh focal point throughout the assignment
- Provide periodic progress updates
- Flag risks, delays, or ethical concerns proactively
- Coordinate logistics and scheduling with Tdh and local partners
- To deliver the assignment as per the signed contract, Terms of Reference, and the Technical and Financial Offer and relevant annexes, including Tdh policies where applicable (e.g. those related to Data Protection and Safeguarding).
- To submit all required deliverables as per the agreed timelines.
- To ensure that the identified Tdh Focal Point is informed in case of any questions and issues (particularly, delays and blockages) that may emerge during the assignment and may require mutual discussion/planning.
- To generally ensure the confidentiality of the process as well as the information and documents received from Tdh.
- The service provider must:
- Be registered as a legal entity or as an independent worker in his/her country of residence.
- Provide proof of VAT registration status (unless not required according to the value of the annual turnover).
- Submit invoices based on the deliverables set forth in the service contract, such as tools or reports.
Minimum Requirements
- Proven experience in documentary filmmaking, video production, or visual storytelling, with a strong portfolio of similar work
- Demonstrated experience working with NGOs, international organizations, or development programmes
- Experience capturing human-centered stories, particularly involving vulnerable communities
Working Conditions
