Relief International is delivering lifesaving health services in North Darfur in partnership with local and international stakeholders, including maternal and newborn care, emergency obstetric services, nutrition programming and integrated primary healthcare. The SRH Clinical Supervisor will provide clinical leadership, mentorship and direct midwifery support to ensure the delivery of safe, high-quality and respectful maternal and newborn healthcare services. Working closely with Ministry of Health staff and facility teams, you will play a critical role in maintaining 24/7 BEmONC readiness, strengthening staff capacity and improving clinical quality in a challenging humanitarian setting.

You will bring the following experience and skills.

  • Diploma or Bachelor's degree in Midwifery from a recognised institution and valid professional registration/licensure to practise as a midwife.
  • Substantial proven experience providing midwifery services across antenatal care, labour and delivery, postnatal care and newborn health services.
  • Strong technical expertise in Basic Emergency Obstetric and Newborn Care (BEmONC), obstetric emergency management and neonatal resuscitation.
  • Experience providing clinical supervision, mentorship, coaching and capacity strengthening for midwives and maternity teams.
  • Strong understanding of infection prevention and control, clinical quality assurance and maternity data management.
  • Experience working in humanitarian, emergency, conflict-affected or resource-constrained settings.
  • Professional English language skills are essential. Experience in Sudan or similar contexts, experience with SRH/GBV services, quality improvement initiatives, and Arabic language skills are desirable.

Key Responsibilities

This role includes the following responsibilities.

  • Provide technical leadership and day-to-day supervision of maternity and midwifery services, ensuring safe, quality and compliant BEmONC service delivery.
  • Deliver direct clinical care across ANC, labour and delivery, PNC and newborn services, including the management of obstetric emergencies and neonatal resuscitation.
  • Mentor, coach and build the capacity of midwives and maternity staff through bedside supervision, training, case reviews and supportive learning approaches.
  • Monitor quality of care, compliance with clinical protocols, infection prevention standards, documentation and patient safety measures, implementing corrective actions where required.
  • Coordinate referrals for complicated maternal, newborn and paediatric cases, working closely with partners and referral facilities to ensure continuity of care.
