Landesa is seeking a highly qualified Short-Term Expert for Communication, Edutainment and Education for an anticipated 18-months GIZ program that aims to improve the management of Human Wildlife Conflict by key actors in Tanzania. The project’s main geographical scope is the Ruvuma Landscape/ including 42 villages of the Districts of Liwale, Namtumbo, and Tunduru. The project also aims to strengthen the capacity for steering and coordination of the Wildlife Division of the Ministry for Natural Resources and Tourism, and the institutions involved in managing HWC, including the Tanzania Wildlife Management Authority (TAWA), Tanzania National Parks (TANAPA), Tanzania Forest Services Agency (TFS), Districts councils and Hotspot Villages. The contractor will be responsible for the implementation of one District land use plan, 15 village land use planning (LUP) and community action plans, developing the organizational structure, curricula and materials, as well as piloting 30 clubs, for the revival of the Malihai Club (environmental conservation clubs in schools and colleges) and strengthening the outreach programs of Tanzania Wildlife Management Authority and Tanzania National Parks Authority (concept development, materials and support to implementation of pilot in 30 villages) of the institutions involved in wildlife management.

Availability: The Short-Term Expert for Communication, Edutainment and Education should start work on November 1st 2026.

Key Responsibilities

The expert will be responsible for supporting specific tasks in work packages related toconservation communication and environmental education, Edutainment over the period of theassignment.

Design/developing and/or implementing concrete interventions in the country upon request fromthe long-term experts’ 1, 2 and 3 or team leader, such as assessments, training, workshops,mentoring, among others, on the topic of conservation communication and environmentaleducation, Edutainment.

Providing thematic background information and supporting the development of concreteinterventions, products and services.

Organization and facilitation learning and exchange.

Minimum Requirements

Education/training: University degree (e.g., ‘master’s or equivalent) Education or Communication orJournalism

Language: Knowledge of English C1.

General professional experience: 8 years of professional experience in the sector of biodiversitycommunication and/or environmental education.

Specific professional experience: 5 years of professional experience in Biodiversity conservationcommunication and environmental education. 4 years of professional experience in developing andimplementing Edutainment.

Professional experience in the country/ region of assignment: 5 years of professional experience in East Africa.
