Role Summary
Join Be Aware and Share as a General Volunteer in Greece to assist in operations at a Community Centre supporting people on the move.
About the Organisation
"Be Aware and Share" (BAAS) is a non-profit and independent organisation supporting people on the move. We have been running a Community Centre in Ioannina since 2022. The Centre is a meeting place for people on the move living in Ioannina and the nearby camps, but also for the local population. The project aims to provide participants with a space to access essential services/materials, language courses, computers and social or creative activities.
Key Responsibilities
- Assist in the daily operations of the Community Centre
- Running and restocking of the Free Clothes Shop
- Organising and/or partaking in social activities (arts & crafts, kids activities, women's space, sports, board games and more)
- Cooking in the community kitchen
- Supporting the coordinators at the reception desk
- Leading language classes
- Keeping the centre a clean, safe and welcoming space
Minimum Requirements
- Enthusiasm to get involved in social activities
- A person who enjoys working with other people, is empathetic and reacts in an appropriate manner to people's needs
- Ability to work independently or in a team, takes initiative and gets involved
- Ability to be flexible
- Good command of English. Other languages, including Arabic, Farsi / Dari, Greek, Turkish, Kurdish are useful in the project
- Minimum full time commitment of 6 weeks
- Desirably 21 years old
- Ability to reside in the EU for the duration of the stay (we are unable to support with visa processes)

Eligibility Criteria
Open to volunteers who can reside in the EU for at least 6 weeks. No visa support provided.
