An exciting opportunity exists for an experienced and inspiring Nurse Unit Manager to lead our 35-bed specialist inpatient rehabilitation unit.

This is more than a traditional NUM role. As the Nurse Unit Manager within our specialist rehabilitation hospital, you will be an integral member of the War Memorial Hospital Executive Team, contributing to operational leadership, clinical governance, workforce development, service improvement and strategic decision-making across the organisation.

Working closely with a highly skilled multidisciplinary team, you will lead the delivery of safe, high-quality, person-centred rehabilitation care while fostering a positive team culture and driving innovation, quality improvement and operational excellence.

The role is responsible for the leadership and management of the inpatient nursing workforce and plays a key role in optimising patient outcomes, patient flow, workforce capability, clinical governance and service performance.

This is a permanent full-time position, working Monday to Friday, with participation in the Executive On Call roster.

  • Lead a high-performing 35-bed specialist rehabilitation unit.
  • Be an active member of the Hospital Executive Team and contribute to strategic planning and organisational leadership.
  • Drive innovation, quality improvement and contemporary models of rehabilitation care.
  • Work alongside an experienced multidisciplinary team committed to excellence in older persons' rehabilitation.
  • Be supported by an experienced senior nursing leadership team, including the Clinical Operations Service Manager/Deputy Director of Nursing, Clinical Nurse Educator, Clinical Nurse Consultant and Clinical Care Coordinator.
  • Contribute to hospital-wide initiatives as well as SESLHD and Uniting service development.

Minimum Requirements

  • Current registration as a Registered Nurse with the Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency (AHPRA).
  • Minimum five years' post-registration clinical experience, preferably within rehabilitation, acute hospital or aged care.
  • Postgraduate qualification in health management, leadership or a related discipline, or demonstrated commitment to working towards one.
