Key Responsibilities
- Prepare workshops, tools, equipment and materials for practical lessons and assessments.
- Support lecturers and students during practical activities and demonstrations.
- Maintain workshop areas to a high standard, including cleaning, housekeeping and routine maintenance.
- Monitor stock levels and assist with ordering materials and equipment.
- Maintain accurate inventory records and ensure the safe storage of tools and materials.
- Assist with the maintenance, repair and servicing of workshop equipment.
- Promote and enforce safe working practices, ensuring compliance with Health and Safety legislation.
- Reclaim reusable materials and manage the safe disposal of waste and scrap materials.
- Liaise with suppliers and, where required, collect materials and equipment.
- Provide technical support across other curriculum areas and college sites as required.
Minimum Requirements
- Relevant vocational qualification in Brickwork or a related construction discipline.
- Level 1 English and Maths qualification (Level 2 desirable).
- Recent and relevant industry experience within brickwork or the wider construction sector.
- Competence in using a range of hand and power tools.
- Good understanding of Health and Safety requirements within workshop environments.
- Strong organisational skills with the ability to maintain stores, equipment and resources effectively.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
- Strong problem-solving abilities and a proactive approach to supporting learning.
- Enthusiasm for working with young people and supporting their development.
- First Aid and Forklift qualifications are desirable, although training can be provided
