Join Firstwave, LLC as a Construction Laborer in Morton, IL, operating machinery in a fast-paced lumber manufacturing environment with a starting pay of $21/hour.

Key Responsibilities

  • Safely operate and monitor industrial saw line machinery and lumber processing equipment
  • Load, feed, align, cut, and process lumber according to production specifications
  • Monitor machinery during operation and make basic adjustments to maintain production quality and efficiency
  • Inspect lumber and finished products for defects, dimensions, and overall quality
  • Identify machine problems, jams, abnormal noises, or other operating issues and notify maintenance or supervision as needed
  • Perform routine machine adjustments, blade changes, and basic preventative maintenance when trained
  • Maintain proper machine speeds, feeds, and production settings
  • Operate conveyors, saws, rollers, controls, and other material-handling equipment
  • Keep the production area clean, organized, and free of hazards
  • Follow all company safety policies, lockout/tagout procedures, and PPE requirements
  • Accurately complete production paperwork, quality checks, and machine logs
  • Assist with material handling, stacking, packaging, and movement of lumber as needed
  • Work closely with other machine operators, production employees, maintenance personnel, and supervisors
  • Meet established production, quality, and efficiency goals
  • Perform other duties as assigned

Minimum Requirements

  • Previous experience operating industrial machinery, saws, production equipment, or manufacturing machinery preferred
  • Lumber, sawmill, woodworking, pallet, truss, or wood-products experience is a plus
  • Mechanical aptitude and the ability to troubleshoot basic equipment issues
  • Ability to read and follow production instructions and measurements
  • Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality
  • Ability to work safely around moving machinery and industrial equipment
  • Ability to stand for extended periods and perform repetitive physical tasks
  • Ability to lift, move, and handle lumber and materials as required
  • Reliable attendance and strong work ethic
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team
  • Previous forklift or material-handling experience is a plus

Candidates with experience as a Machine Operator, Saw Operator, Sawmill Operator, Production Operator, Lumber Mill Worker, Wood Manufacturing Operator, CNC Operator, Industrial Machine Operator, Manufacturing Associate, Equipment Operator, or Production Technician are encouraged to apply.
